Hit the ground running in 2005

ROKSA kicks off the 2005 year with fundraising events but it wasn't the funds that was worth earning; it was the fellowship and laughter that made these events worth doing.  The year is full of memories - see some of them in this video.

ROKSA's First Bake Sale

Ula lole campaign for Valentine's Day was a hit.  Working the table right now are Tumau Alefosio, Billy Reniva, Jr Pousoo, PJ Masaniai and Flo Amosa!

 

 

 

 

 

Easter Service

ROKSA comes together to celebrate Easter Sunday.

ROKSA's 1st Golf Tournament

ROKSA's first golf tournament took place Seongnam Golf Course and raised funds in the amount of $3500.  Fundraising opportunities like this is exactly why ROKSA pursued and submitted the paperwork to become an official Area II private organization.  Folks that came out to brave the wee early hours in the morning were Anita Nua, Tau Laupola, Faresa Tu'uao, Jr Pousoo and Fa'anati Mapuoletuli.

EUSA Volleyball Championship Tournament

The team was coached by none other than ALL ARMY volleyball veteran, Martin Matautia. 

Area II Walk of Fallen Heroes

ROKSA shows up in force to support troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan.  A teacher from Seoul American High School championed the community wide event in support of a national effort to rally support of the troops while honoring those who have lost their lives during their service.

Sheriah Taua Gibbons High School Graduation

Pictured here with Sheriah and her brother Thomas Gibbons, Jr, are ROKSA members,  Jerome Mageo and Jeniffer Afualo.  ROKSA came out in force Sheriah's high school graduation by pulling together an after-graduation buffet menu complete with a baked pua'a.

Farewell for Iakopo "Sam" Samuelu & Tumau Alefosio

Tau Laupola (President) and Tui Nua (Senior Military Advisor) present Ms. Tumau Alefosio with the ROKSA wood burning plaque.  Tumau served as ROKSA's Vice President but is also the creator of ROKSA's current logo. 

Iakopo "Sam" Samuelu is being presented a Certificate of Appreciation. 

Asian/Pacific Celebration - Camp Casey

ROKSA convoys up to Area I, Camp Casey to participate in Asian/Pacific activities and show support for Area I Samoan service members.

Aganu'u Samoa 2005

Everyone gathers on the stage to formally open the Aganu'u Samoa program with a song, Lota Nu'u, and prayer.

Columbus Day Parade - 1st Place Again!

ROKSA revs up for a 2nd year in the Columbus Day Parade.  The skit this year was to enact the exciting actions and emotions involved when Samoans play cricket.  Additionally, our taupou - Gabby Matautia - gave a quick view of her dancing style.  The judges liked what they saw and ROKSA came away with the first place prize of $200.
